Second phase of mhGAP Training in Kashmir in collaboration with Directorate of Health services kashmir and Royal College of Psychiatry London with support from WHO
Following the successful completion of First phase of mhGAP Training in Kashmri which was conducted first time in India and in which more than 100 participants were trained. We are pleased to announce the second phase of training of mhGAP in kashmir.
The mhGAP team is thankful to both trainers and trainees for making this programme a success.The Trainers were highly impressed by the enthusiasm ,knowledge and standards of the participating trainees.
The recommendations from the first phase were formulated by Dr Sayed Aqeel Hussain and were accepted and recommeded by the President of the royal college of psychiatry london to Commissioner/Secretary Health and medical education jammu and Kashmir Government and to WHO Geneva which agreed to integrate it into the training modules and next edition of mhGAP intervention guide.
The successful programme led to the initiation of the process of signing of MOU by Dr Sayed Aqeel Hussain between Health department of Jammu and Kashmir through Commissioner /Secretary Health and Medical Education and President of the Royal College Of Psychiatry London
In view of the High quality of training a paper was accepted which will be presented at the International Congress of Psychiatry London in June by Dr Sayed Aqeel Hussain International coordinator and Dr Mohd Muzaffar Khan state coordinator for mhGAP Training in kashmir.
Resumes are invited from interested candidates for the 100 seats of mhGAP training from various professions which will be conducted in the month of August.
Candidates who attended the first phase of training will be considered for refresher course after they have submitted the feedback form available on first web page of mhGAP site

The mhGAP training will be led by master trainers for mhGAP and members of International and Voluntary special interest group of the royal college of psychiatry including its chairman Dr Peter Hughes and Dr sajad Yousuf .
The Training modules will focus on depression, suicide, drug and alcohol, and trauma modules.
